There is only one law that I know that was broken for this run and it is The Gun Control Act of 1968; which is still the main federal regulations for firearms throughout the entirety of the United States. (Which the government of California complies with.) Within the Act states that homemade weapons cannot be distributed or put up for sale, this would include any pipe guns. (You can argue that the laser musket could be considered one too but was never used in this vid.) I understand that this would have made it even worse to do this playthrough; however I still wanted to say it in case anyone else wants to do this challenge.

Technically you can't use any pipe weapons because improvised firearms are illegal, the only guns that should be allowed are the hunting rifle, the 44 magnum, the western revolver, and the lever action rifle (and i guess the squirt gun but that doesn't really count)

Thief 2014 is a typical product of its time: An IP repurposed for what marketing thought was the "modern audience". Aka the most generic and inoffensive cinematic stealth action adventure ever. Otherwise, they'd fear of dropping all these Assassin's Creeders! BG3 also took a couple of deviations from the original games. But it was still built on the promise of pen&paper freedom and agency. Rather than being turned into a linear (stealth) parcours through boxed (stealth) arenas and a cinematic animation for fucking everything. In 2014, devs really thought they'd lose players if they didn't signpost everything. With 2005ish - 2014ish being the shittiest era of gaming in general. Fuck me, the most recent shooter/stealth/FPS gooner brawler Fallen Aces has more in common with Thief than anything on display here. One chapter is a DIRECT nod to thief. And the last one has you infiltrating a night club via 8 or 9 possible entrances. That'd would make even Thief 2's bank heist blush. No wonder that fans fled to Dishonored in droves, despite that not being a fully-on stealth game. It shared all the Looking Glass DNA, and some levels were clear homages to Thief. Which shouldn't surprise anyone, as some level designers started out by making Thief fan missions and understanding the original's missions to the T. Much of the lore is very Half-Life crossover I think that while stalker and others played a big hand in game world elements, I think that half-life played a much larger role in that world's lore.
